PURPOSE OF THIS POLICY

The Administrators Transitioning to Faculty Appointments Policy specifies the salary policy for administrators who transition to faculty positions at CSU.

POLICY STATEMENT

  1. In the case where the base faculty salary is specified in the letter of hire as an administrator, the percent merit increases received while serving as an administrator will be applied to the faculty base salary (unless the individual was fired for cause but retains their faculty position, in which case the University has flexibility in determining the salary but typically not below the mean of the full professors in their home academic department). The faculty salary does not include any supplemental pay or summer salary that was allocated as part of their compensation as an administrator.
  2. In the case where the base faculty salary is not specified in the letter of hire as an administrator, the University will either apply the percent increases received as an administrator to the former salary (if the employee was on the faculty at CSU prior to accepting the administrative position) or the employee will default to the mean of full professor salaries for the home department (if the employee came from outside CSU to accept their administrative position).
