PURPOSE OF THIS POLICY

Colorado State University recognizes the importance of dual career considerations for faculty and staff members, particularly in attracting and retaining top talent. This policy aims to support faculty and staff members whose spouses or partners are seeking employment, thereby fostering an inclusive and supportive work environment.

APPLICATION OF THIS POLICY

This policy applies to Colorado State University faculty and administrative professionals.

EXEMPTIONS FROM THIS POLICY

State classified, entry/mid-level administrative professional and temporary (i.e. hourly, student, graduate student, adjunct faculty, post-doctoral) employees are exempted.

DEFINITIONS USED IN THIS POLICY

Domestic Partner (Partner): As defined in the Human Resource’s Affidavit of Domestic Partnership and pursuant to C.R.S. §14-15-103.

High Level: Employees in senior leadership or executive roles with strategic decision-making authority. Generally, academic department heads and above in the organizational hierarchy.

POLICY STATEMENT

Colorado State University is committed to recognizing the unique needs of dual career couples in higher education. We understand that attracting and retaining top talent often requires addressing the employment needs of both partners. As such, the institution offers resources and support for spouses and partners of faculty and staff members who are seeking professional opportunities either within the institution or in the broader community.

This policy underscores our dedication to work-life balance and aligns with our mission to build a vibrant academic and professional community. While we cannot guarantee employment for partners, we strive to provide assistance and opportunities that align with institutional needs and individual qualifications, ensuring a welcoming and supportive transition for dual career families.

POLICY PROVISIONS

Eligibility Criteria

Spouses or partners of newly hired or current full-time faculty and, in some cases, High Level employees are eligible.

We help with:

  • Exploring faculty positions at CSU and other Northern Colorado institutions
  • Exploring non-faculty employment at CSU and other institutions
  • Supporting partner with career consulting, which may include review of application materials and advising on potential employers in Northern Colorado region

COMPLIANCE WITH THIS POLICY
